Former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney spoke at the Atlantic Economic Forum yesterday and defended current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with big statements such as how he and his cabinet "conducted themselves as well as anybody else in the world" during the COVID-19 pandemic and how the pandemic has been "the greatest challenge that any prime minister has dealt with in Canada in 156 years." Mulroney also assured that historians won't remember the "nonsense" coming out of Parliament right now but rather on "big ticket" items.
The reactions to this speech on Twitter seemed to be mostly on the negative side, although he did receive some support, even from Canadians who aren't fans of his. Here's a comment from "Small L liberal" Kevin Reid:
I'm no fan of Mulroney, but he harkens back to a time of progressive conservatives and not these right wing, populist mudslingers that dominate conservative parties today.

But most responses weren't as receptive. For example, Timothee Carson and OG seemed to have other "big ticket" items in mind:
I would also add, mortgage. It skyrocketed and people are going to lose their homes.

And DR LUXXX believes Mulroney may be lobbying for a future job:
Mulroney probably wants to be the next special rapporteur and ride the gravey train.

Others, such as Daren Doucet, reminded Twitter about an unpopular introduction to Canadian life by Mulroney's administration, the HST:
Murloney, a man who started the HST. A man who had to start it because of his spending. And, embracing another man, who has spent worse than all of em. Airbus dude, and, Beijing bank dude.
